For Penguin's Book Cover competition, this was my take on Meera Syals "Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee". It was inspired by this line in the book.
"She is as sweet as the blossom outside my window, and just as virginal. Fear of failure, he’d told the stone as he’d eyed up the passing girls from his pavement café, pluckable, all of them, bruised by summer evening blue. "
The book deals with how women are controlled and breaking free of this even when it's seen as tradition, I saw the fruit with a bite taken out of it as a reclamation of women's bodies. I felt it was suitable for the message that is put across in the book.
Thanks for checking out my work :)!
